Sunamp, based in Tranent, designs, and manufactures thermal storage batteries using phase-change materials. They have developed a multi sector product which can be used for various hot water, space heating and cooling purposes.

Sunamp are world leaders in developing and harnessing the power of phase change materials (PCMs) for the storage of thermal energy. These developments in PCMs have the potential for transforming energy storage. Sunamp are leading the research from a base in Scotland. As a business they put significant resource into collaboration with the academic sector in terms of both developing & testing materials and in supporting & employing PhD and master’s students.
With a focus on customer satisfaction and sustainability, Sunamp's products bring numerous benefits to users, both in terms of financial savings and improved health and well-being. By using phase change materials (PCM), Sunamp products allow users to convert excess renewable electricity into heat can and use PCMs as a short-term heat source.
Sunamp's users see significant cost savings compared to conventional electric boilers, resulting in a financial savings based on the UK household average hot water consumption and electricity cost as well as the associated savings of greenhouse gas emissions where these systems replace electric or combi-boilers. Sustainability is built into the unit which require little maintenance and are expected to have a 25+ year lifespan.
